![]() ![]() It has a good combination of both Biblical references, as well as stories from more modern Yes Sisters too. It is about the friendships that don't just tell us what we want to hear to make us feel good, but about the friendships that help us to be better women by being real. It will really offer us some encouragement in our relationships both in the type of friends we want to surround ourselves with, but also in the type of friend we want to be too. ![]() truly it IS stunning, but the content inside is wonderful too. I was first drawn to this book by the beautiful cover admittedly. It encourages us to surround ourselves with women who will be open and honest, while still encouraging. those who will only say yes to whatever it is we ask them, even if it's harmful. No, it's not telling us to surround ourselves with 'Yes Men'. That is what Yes Sisters is really all about. We all know the importance of having friends in our lives, but really it is not about having just any old friends- but having the right kind of friends. ![]() ![]() ![]() Summary by Wikipediaįor further information, including links to online text, reader information, RSS feeds, CD cover or other formats (if available), please go to the LibriVox catalog page for this recording.įor more free audio books or to become a volunteer reader, visit. ![]() It is one of two Hannay novels set during the First World War, the other being Mr Standfast (1919) Hannay’s first and best-known. He set out to explore how German regimes over three centuries have envisaged their present in relation to their future and past. Iron Kingdom is a wonderfully readable, gripping account of a state which, for both good and ill, has fundamentally shaped our world. Clark offers no solutions, but that is not his task. It was both a progressive, well run, enlightened country and a huge, threatening barracks. He is the author of Iron Kingdom: The Rise and Downfall of Prussia, 1600-1947, among other books. Catharine's College at the University of Cambridge, UK. Prussia's power came from a sequence of notably brilliant rulers (most famously Frederick the Great), dynastic marriage and an obsessive focus on military excellence. Christopher Clark is a professor of modern European history and a fellow of St. Prussia's role in Europe's fortunes has been incalculable and Iron Kingdom is, extraordinarily, the first major book devoted to it. After the Second World War Prussia, which had still continued to exist as part of the German state, was abolished by the Allies, blamed for the overwhelming militarism that had led Europe into total disaster. With its capital in Berlin, Prussia grew from being a small, poor, disregarded medieval state into one of the most vigorous and powerful countries in Europe, the scourge of its many enemies and, ultimately, the motor behind the creation of the German Empire in 1871 with all that implied for the 20th century. ![]() ![]() Throughout Eyes That Kiss in the Corners, which is Joanna Ho's first picture book, she explores themes of family and tradition to construct an intimate portrait of a young girl’s growing sense of herself. ![]() She notices that her eyes have the same sparkle as her grandmother’s and little sister’s eyes. As she plays with her mother one day, the girl sees that her mother’s eyes “crinkle into crescent moons” when she smiles. The girl reflects on what her eyes have in common with her family’s eyes. Her friends have “big eyes” with “lashes like lace trim on ballgowns.” But her own eyes “glow like warm tea” and “kiss in the corners.” The book's narrator, a young girl, begins by describing how her eyes look different from her friends’ eyes. ![]() Author Joanna Ho and illustrator Dung Ho’s Eyes That Kiss in the Corners is a joyful, tender exploration of family and diversity. ![]() ![]() ![]() In 1998, Kishimoto premiered as a Weekly Shōnen Jump artist with a serialized version of Karakuri in Weekly Shōnen Jump, but it proved unpopular and was canceled soon after.
